‘넷스케이프부터 크롬까지’ 웹브라우저 15년사 총정리

인터넷 역사에 있어 큰 이정표가 된 웹 브라우저가 2009년 10월 13일로 15해를 맞는다. 그 때 바로 최초의 상용 웹브라우저, 그러니까 결국 넷스케이프 내비게이터라 불린 것이 베타코드로 출시되었다. 월드와이드웹의 창시자 팀 버너스 리와 국립 슈퍼컴퓨터 활용센터에서 일하는 팀을 포함한 연구자들이 1991년과 1994년 사이에 유닉스 브라우저를 만드는 사이 넷스케이프 내비게이터는 이런 작은 데스크톱 소프트웨어를 일반명사처럼 만들어버렸다. 일반 사용자가 웹 사이트에 올라온 텍스트와 이미지를 볼 수 있도록 함으로써 넷스케이프 내비게이터는 무수히 많은 브라우저 전쟁, 정부 주도의 법정소송 및 많은 소프트웨어 혁신과 함께 인터넷 시대를 여는데 일조했다. 웹 브라우저의 역사상 가장  빛나는 사건 15개를 꼽아본다.

After rushing to change my password, I realized I hadn’t changed it in nearly a year. I’m also guilty of using the same passwords for multiple sites and applications. And, I’ll admit I’m guilty of using an overused password now and then. I set a reminder on my calendar to change my passwords every three months, and hopefully I’ll stick to it. What about you?

이전에 소개한적이 있는 Double Twist는 아이튠과 비슷한 인터페이스에 휴대폰, MP3 플레이어, PSP 등 다양한 기기와 호환되는 전문 미디어 관리 애플리케이션입니다. TechCrunch에 따르면 광고에 나온 10월 6일 날 맥용 새로운 버전이 공개되고 윈도우 버전은 일주일 뒤에 릴리즈 된다고 하는데요. 새롭게 포함되는 기능이 아주 깜짝 놀랄만한 기능이라고 하니 기대해도 좋다고 합니다.
